STADTundRAUM – The Public Space Area at FSB

STADT und RAUM planerForum

The thematic area “STADTundRAUM” will once again take a central position in Hall 9 at FSB 2025. The concept, which has been presented since 2005 in close cooperation with Rolf von der Horst and his team, will be continued and focuses on current topics in public space planning, as well as play and movement spaces.

With the planerFORUM as a professional supporting program for planners, municipalities, landscape architects, and schools, the planerLOUNGE as a meeting and networking area, and numerous special topics, this curated area holds a special attraction for trade visitors.

What makes this area particularly appealing is the unique combination of exhibitors, themes, information, and special exhibition formats. It has become an indispensable part of the FSB for the topics of public space – playground equipment – movement spaces.

This year, manufacturers of playground equipment and urban furniture will participate in special exhibitions on topics such as accessibility, sustainable products, inclusion, and intergenerational concepts.

In addition to the presence of well-known manufacturers, the area “STADTundRAUM” is also known for showcasing renowned planning offices from the field of landscape architecture who will present their work in the planerLOUNGE. These planning offices will also shape the content program on various days.

On all four days of the trade fair, an extensive lecture program will take place on the planerFORUM stage in Hall 9. This year’s focus topics include:

  • Water management concepts for public space and neighborhood planning
  • Inclusion
  • Schoolyards as movement spaces

For the first time, FSB Cologne 2025 is presenting an inclusion trail that introduces trade visitors to innovative solutions for inclusive play and meeting spaces. The aim is to break down barriers and create spaces for everyone. The equipment on display - sponsored by leading companies - invites visitors to try it out. These include, among others:

  • Inclusive swing seat & inclusive ropeway seat
  • Sand tables for interactive play
  • Fall protection flooring for safety and accessibility
  • Spring bench, jumping equipment and rung ladder to promote fun and exercise

Three times a day, experts from the planning office P2 Spielräume offer guided tours of the inclusion trail. They will provide practical insights into the design of barrier-free areas and answer questions such as: ‘How can meeting spaces be designed to be accessible for everyone?’ or ‘What role does participation play in planning?’.

The special exhibition shows that inclusion in public spaces is more than just ramps and lifts - it also means promoting encounters and participation. The inclusion trail provides inspiration for landscape architects, operators of public facilities and planners who see inclusion as a central element of future projects.

Visit FSB and discover how inclusive design makes diversity and community possible!
